I want to be famous for my own merits! It really sucks that the only ways to become famous on such a large scale is to either be a movie/tv star, or a singer. They don't really contribute much to society (these celebrities) in the way writers and scientists do... but they're the ones that get all the attention.
    True. :moon:

Do you really want to be famous? A lot of celebrities would revert back to normality if they could.

I completley understand. I think the media classify success today as being famous. However, when you actually are famous, it is probably awful to not have a private life, I personally could not stand it, but equally would like to be well known for something worthwhile.

You just said it yourself. You have to be incredibly lucky to become famous the way you want to be. I mean like really really lucky...more luckier than winning the lottery. Millions of other people all around the world have the same/waaay bigger ambitions than you and are doing waaay more than you are to become famous. But hey...good luck to you ...also almost EVERY kid/teen/tween (mostly girls) nowadays desperatly wants to become famous these days because they are brought up on cack like 'Hello' magazine and 'Laguna beach'. Anyone who disagrees with this is lying to themselves...hell even I want to be famous but I have other responsibilities to handle :P
There are millions of kids aspiring, WISHING, to be famous, but not all of them are successful or else we'd know millions of celebs, now wouldn't we? And they can't all be famous, surely? The people who really make it to the top are either yes, really lucky, OR they're 100% focussed on making it happen. Successful people hone in on what they WANT and take actual action towards making that goal come true. That's what Gaga did. You gotta make things happen for yourself in life.

And how the heck do you know that these "millions of people" are doing way more than I am to become famous? They're obviously not working hard enough now are they? And what the heck do you know about my ambitions or that it's less than "millions of other people"? There is a BIG BIG BIG difference between wishing for something and actually going after it and taking action.

I have always wanted to be famous and I still do, it is the only job I truly want xD
I'd love to be an actress... Hollywood style, as opposed to soap acting.

I am 21 now, almost finished Uni and needing to find a real job I think when you are still in school, you think these things will happen, but then reality wakes you up! There are so many people out there who do move to these places, make all the effort...and still do not become famous. It's about timing and luck mostly, unless your talent is so amazing that it cannot go unnoticed, which is rare. I bet loads of people want to be famous....some for the money, some for the fame, some for both. And I bet more than half of those people would absolutely hate the actual attention part once they got it, and would wish they were anonymous and rich instead of famous and rich.
    I like attention however xD

Never say never though... but get a real job too.
Yes, someone who sees what I mean!! I see all these people around me and they seem so content to aim for simpler goals in life like getting a stable job that makes them enough money to live a decent, relatively stress-free life. I used to be all right with this but recently I've not been able to stop fantasizing about fame and all that. All those crazy dreams. I just feel like, if you're going to dream, dream big and don't limit yourself.

Also the fact that she is a complete tool and an attention whore probably helped. I just hate the fact that she's become famous for being weird, as if the 'ooh look at me I'm so kooky' generation needed any more encouragement.
So she's an attention whore, so what? EVERYONE wants attention, come on! And most people want things but not everyone has the gumption or a strong enough desire to following through with it. So she wants fame and attention. She's not shady about it, and she doesn't try to hide it. She goes full out and it's her no holds barred approach that I really admire. 'It's what she wants and by god she's going to get it'-- I like her attitude. Her music alone is catchy enough to get people to pay attention to her but she wanted to really bulk up her mystique which she does with the crazy clothes. She pulled out all the stops to ensure that she stays in the limelight and gets talked about. Honest to God I don't see anything wrong with that.

Does anyone feel this way? I feel like it is the only thing truly worth working towards. That you have not reached the pinnacle of success if you aren't famous. Obviously there are various ways of getting there, and nowadays it doesn't take much to catapult a person to fame... but the fame I want and which I daydream about is to be famous for something I am proud of and worked hard to achieve.... sort of like Lady Gaga whom I practically worship. I wish I had the presence of mind and the desire at such a young age to pursue success & fame.... because I believe that given enough time and effort you can achieve everything. Now I am in my 20's I feel like it's a bit too late, and fame is not so fun when you are old as when you are young.

Alright calm down. Maybe your ambitions are big but what are you actually doing to become famous at the moment? and what (if any) success have you had from it?

I know a guy who wanted to be an actor, he was seriously into it. As far as I know he had acted all his life, was outgoing and pretty arrogant. He'd done a huge amount of plays, including a couple of productions in an Oxford theatre. He did it all - school play, drama club, Stagecoach, special acting/drama school or whatever.

Years on, his claim to fame is appearing on a BBC 1 documentary about crime for a couple of minutes because a guy pretended to sell him Reading tickets (and he didn't report it :facepalm2: ). Making him look a tit. He was also on the cover of an obscure compilation rock album because he was in the shot when a photographer took a picture of the crowd during a rock gig.

Moral of the story: Don't look for fame, you won't find it unless you gold-dig or manage to make a show of yourself in a few reality shows, even then it might not work. If you find fame, it'll be coincidential factors coming together at the right time.

Put the work in and make something of your life.

    Lesson over.

I’ve never wanted to be famous, filthy rich I can aspire to but not famous. What do people lack that they want all that attention to compensate?

Would far rather live the quiet life with a big house in the country and a few partners to keep me/each other entertained. Perhaps grow some apples and grapes, learn to play a few instruments, build karts and play cricket with my future kids...maybe even learn to fly a sail plane.

Mind you I also find subterranean coal fires fascinating so perhaps I’m the weird one :o:.

Why was this thread even made? OP should have renamed it to 'I have bigger ambitions than anyone else therefore I am going to get famous...just thought I'd put that out there'
