I completed my Student Finance application form for 2010/11 online this weekend and now it is 'Awaiting Assessment'. At the beginning, they asked me to fill in my passport details, which I did, but when I got to the page which tells you what evidence to send them, it said to send my passport (or birth certificate) as proof of my identity.

Should I send it, even though I've already told them my passport details?

They want you to fill in the details, then they confirm them via your passport. Easier than them entering the details themselves.

That's wierd, if you entered your passport details online you shouldn't need to send them through the post as well. They check your name and number with the passport service to confirm your identity so that you don't need to send your passport in. I'd give them a call first.

It is weird. When I log in, and click on my application, under 'Place of Birth' it says CONFIRMED. This makes me think I don't need to send it, but I might as well as I have other evidence to send anyway.
