    Now im being immature. :sly:

You need to change your sig from imbecile to imbecilic. Of course, that's only if you want to make sense.

From where i'm sitting he was just debating with you, yet he trounced you and you got uppity. If you really wanted to take the moral highground you would have just put him on ignore without ever letting him know, but because you were being petty and childish you told him you were doing it and why.
It doesn't really matter what your perspective is 'from where you see it', since the issue isn't with his behaviour in this thread. You don't really know what you're talking about, and since it's over anyway I suggest we leave it and stop spamming the thread. If you really want to pursue Aeolus's defense you can PM me.

They shouldnt ban but just make it more equall by increasing the amount of near-naked men in womans magazines :yep:

Because its a common missconception that womans glossy magazines are also full of hot pictures of the opposite sex, because infact there arent nearly enough for me to perv over

they only have like ONE page with 'torso of the week'

Because simply ignoring your opponents in a debate is a tremendously mature thing to do. It just shows you don't have an answer really.
Mate, I've responded to every post you've directed at me, and everyone else in this thread except that guy (who, btw, my issue with has nothing to do with this thread). Do you really have no other counter argument except this tired, irrelevent point? In your words:

It just shows you don't have an answer really.

Women just need to realise that for some men they are mere sex objects.

The quote in my sig is taken word for word from the novel Master and Commander which was written by the late Patrick O'brien who was considered one of the literary greats.

So maybe you should revise your post? Of course thats only if you don't want to look like a condescending ****.

Whatever. It doesn't make grammatical sense. Imbecile's a noun, not an adjective.

She's blaming the fact that society is "patriarchal" (ie, the cause of the problem is that men run things)

How is that not blaming men?
    Because I'd love to know.

I think i will trust Patrick O'brien, rather than a schoolgirl who is studying GCSE English.

EDIT: Imbecile can be used as an adjective. http://www.audioenglish.net/dictionary/imbecile.htm

:mmm: You just made yourself look foolish.

Oh, you'll be glad to know that I didn't learn this during my GCSEs! I don't know about you but I was aware of the difference between a noun and and adjective in year 5. Look it up in a dictionary, man.

Ta, I skipped over it twice by accident :P

    (Original post by missygeorgia)
How is it blaming men? She stated several times she's blaming society. Men do not equal society. 50% of society is female. I don't understand where the confusion is.
She blamed patriarchal society, shall we go through this again:

    "Patriarchal society is to blame"
Patriarchal in this instance = men in control

You can't just blame "society" in general, it's not targeted at all, she's blaming the fact that she considers society to be patriarchal.

Ergo - the fact that "men are in control" is to blame for women's bad habits.

Which is rather an illogical conclusion.

To anyone reading this who skipped to the last page, The post which started this argument is a couple of pages back, I'll quote it next time I promise :p:

Yeah, me and my girl mates buy The Sun all the time.
Who mentioned The Sun? I was talking about pornography. What exactly are you trying to say, that girls can't enjoy porn? Or was this just another not-so-subtle attempt to dodge the question?

No, you didn't. You insulted me, but it wasn't an ad hom. Insult =/= ad hominem. Deary me, I see we'll have to work at this concept
Haha. If I walked into this thread and called you a name that would be an insult. If you are refuting a post of mine (or rather attempting to), and I use an insult to dismiss your post rather than arguing it fairly, thats an ad hom. In fairness you could be forgiven for thinking it wasn't an ad hom as your posts have so little substance there is little to refute. Which begs the question, if you aren't willing to debate and discuss, what are you doing in debate and discussion?

Deary me, I think this will be my last response to you as I'm beginning to believe I'm being trolled.

Maybe you should do your research before foolishly trying to be condescending?

    http://www.audioenglish.net/dictionary/imbecile.htm

    • IMBECILE (noun)
The noun IMBECILE has 1 sense:

    1. a person of subnormal intelligence

Familiarity information: IMBECILE used as a noun is very rare.

    • IMBECILE (adjective)
The adjective IMBECILE has 1 sense:

    1. having a mental age of three to seven years

Familiarity information: IMBECILE used as an adjective is very rare.

:teehee: Bearing in mind the novel was written in the context of the 18th century when such a use may not have been so rare as it is these days.

Er, the original post? That's what the whole debate is over, not pornography. Of course women enjoy pornography, but that's not really relevant here, is it?

You didn't use an insult to dismiss my argument. You just tacked it onto the end of your post. You didn't say 'you're a silly arrogant little girl therefore your argument sucks', just as I didn't say 'boys are stupid porn addicts so their arguments don't count.

I would have thought it's pretty obvious that I'm very willing to debate, as I've been doing for many pages of this thread. Why would you think otherwise?

At least you aren't at Manchester, where the student union shop is literally just pens, paper and imitation brand orange juice. I think they've banned more things than New Labour (SATIRE!)
That was actually funny and it had no right to be. Played.

On topic: I think everything should be banned. Would stop people whining and asking me to sign stuff. In fact I wish people were banned.

So, if you don't object to the porn in Nuts etc, what do you object to? The articles? The TV Guide? Games reviews?
