If you take his point completely out of context then yes, that would be the next logical step...
Not exactly taken out of context,to say both would be to discard the socio-economic reasons.

There was an article about it in The Guardian this week. I think it's true - women's fashion isn't made to make men notice women, it is made for other women.

    (Original post by TShadow383)
So basically "Yes womens magazines do exactly the same thing, but I assume it doesn't have any impact because it's not happened in the past"
    Poor logic, really.
No, that's not what I meant. I don't feel women's magazines are as bad as men's magazines as they are more about the man himself, rather than just his body. However, men are not seen as sexual objects in society so showing them to be so doesn't do as much damage as women who are sexually harassed on a day-to-day basis.

Being forced to work in abysmal conditions for little to no pay is not comparable with earning a very very comfortable living for getting your baps out by choice no matter how you spin it.

And yes they are forced to work in those conditions as there is nothing else they can do to feed themselves and their families.

And it does no use--They will simply resort to a newsagent on the Kingsway to get their ******* material.
Also, which would you prefer--jacking off to Nuts/Zoo or Hard core porn involving something really quite wrong.
What sad individual ***** to zoo? If i want a **** i watch proper porn, i barely even pay attention to page 3 now, i can honestly say i have never ****** to page 3 or any other imo non pornographic pictures.

Pictures of naked ladies is just eye candy something to have a look at and turn the page, hardcore porn is for *******.

Just shows about double standards, I have read womens magazines before as they are just as interesting to read as mens mags just not as catered to a male audience but often find the articles more obsessed with women as sex objects then mens.

I remember something on tv a few years back about teen girls mags and trying to get them banned as they encourages underage sex, as it had problem pages with girls writing in and worried about their first time and giving sex advice.

And grown up womens mags giving advice to women on how to dress to get male attention and/or how to go out and get men to buy drinks all night and free taxi rides, basically men are the objects then, do they talk about that.

On that logic we should allow the expolitation of workers in developing countries,as they choose to enter the workplace don't they?

    Erm yes we should.

We have no right telling developing countries that they can't do this when our own country and most of the developed countries in the world go to where they are through cheap labour and slave labour.

When we went through the industrial revolution we had children going into machinery to fix it while it was still on, people lost arms and **** and were paid pittance but whether right or wrong it is the quickest way to industrialise.

To tell the developing countries not ot do this is hypocritical and would china be where it is if it didn't have such a cheap work force? no, would it be where it is if it was bogged down in health and safety? no.

Tell me this would you rather live in a mudhut in the sticks working in rice paddies or move to the city and have a better standard of life?

Because our countries are not comparable, the "exploited" worlers in developing countries are living better than they were and we can't expect a developing country to have the same standard of living as a developed country, so you may see exploited workers, i see a country making progress which would be unduly hindered if we imposed our views on their country, the views of a country that are a million miles away from anything they can understand and vice versa, we cannot understnad their views unless of course you grew up in the 1800's.

everyone is going on about how girls mags are full of guys topless. Its just because you have no justified comeback for the original post. Womens breasts are seen as a sexual part of their body and that of what should be kept private the main job for them is to feed babies like nature intended not to be exploited and plastically inhanced for the sexual pleasure of men, well some men not every man is the same and is into wasting their days away in front of porn with their **** in their hand as most of the lads in this post seem to do as they are so defensive over the issue.
Yeah maybe womens mags do have topless men in them but least they keep their trousers on keeping their sexual bits to themself maybe some of these page 3 models and lads mags models such start putting their clothes back on and be more of a role model to young girls today, no wonder the english culture and society is so **** saying that binge drinking, porn and teenage pregnancy seems to be our only culture.

The images assume that women are sexually passive objects; and that relationships between men and women are equivalent to the relationship of predator and prey.

"if youd ban all porn websites on the internet there would only be one website left. and it would be called bring back the porn."

i do believe that is an accurate summary of life.

so i suggest the womens officer should watch some scrubs and chill the **** out.

oh, i just read 1. in more detail:

"1.The homogenous representation of women’s bodies illustrated in FHM and the Sun is misogynistic."

you are saying that FHM represent all women to look the same? i think even the most stupid person would simply have to look at some feminists and realise that women are not one homogenous good.

so i actually think that this statement is offensive, to well everyone. unless the womens officer actually believes that all women look like those in FHM. in which case I feel deeply sorry for her.

    (Original post by Antonia87)
I agree with everything they said. I dont know why people are replying going "that ******* ridiculous/stupid/blah blah", since their reasons hold weight.
    please read the above.

I dont know, I am not a FHM or lads mag fan as such, I did like them when I was like 17/18 not to the extremes which people assume they are for though.

I admit I liked the girls in them but did read the articles too as I liked reading about the latest technology like games or gadgets and movie reviews, however most lads mags are quite anti Scottish so used to not read those parts(i.e used to criticise Scottish sports saying they are stupid) and make fun of kilts and ginger people, and on that I remember one calling the ginger girl from Girls Aloud ugly but when she dyed her hair they said she now looked ok! I was more into the girls in the form of fancying them and wishing I could date a gorgeous girl like them rather than anything purely sexual, if I wanted that I could of got a mag like Loaded but I didnt.

However the argument given by the society is just one designed to provoke and annoy, pretty much any argument can be made valid as long as you find something to back it up with hence people replying with stories about female magazines, it picks out the negative aspects of it which are positive for others.

Society should not be about "what ifs" rather than what is happening.

I agree with them. If it just affected the women who choose to pose then I would have less of a problem with Page 3 and 'lad's mags', however, it impacts the perception of women across society. By banning the sale of them in certain places, it de-normalises the culture of seeing women's bodies as commodities.
i repeat what i said above.

if anyone is so stupid they cant tell the difference between reality and pictures then its too late to educate them.

and do you want to ban all the porn on the internet?

They would probably say if girls didn't have aspirations to sell their bodies for the pleasure of men, they would probably try to get an education and a well paid job.

I mean, if those aspirations didn't exist (which they do because females are seen as an object of sex)
