For rejection, there's usually a red line going between the 2 holes. However, there may just be general redness and soreness in the area. But the biggest clue is that the piercing moves! You'll be able to see bits of your bar that you couldn't see before, or your favourite jewellery will be too big etc.

Most piercings migrate a bit to where they're most happy. But if it migrates a lot then it's better to take it out rather than to have it reject completely.

hmm my belly piercing i got almost 4 years ago has migrated a very small amount.. thats normal right? it doesnt hurt or anything but im still worried..

well im not sure if its migrated but the bottom bit where the bar goes in is slightly torn kinda but its not that noticeable and i didnt even feel it.. maybe the skin's just stretched a bit when i put on weight over the last 4 years and then lost some of it?

Lauren
How do you tell if a piercing is migrating or rejecting?

Lauren this is completely random but I take it thats you in your avator? You remind me of that nurse out of Casualty called Claire! You're very pretty

If it isn't red, doesn't hurt and doesn't look dangerously shallow/close to the surface then it should be OK! Piercings do always move slightly, especially navel ones as that area has a lot of movement anyway.
