    Video and story here:

Was there really any need for tasers? It seems to me that most of the times I've seen a taser used is when a police officer is too lazy and/or stupid to do anything else.

I don't know how it's in England but are the police here using tasers too? I hate them because it's like a hack for the police, "Nah CBA to man him, turn on de cheats, thunderschock this ******* Squirtle".

If i was in the US and i happened to be in that situation, i'd break loose. I mean by the look of it, mis-using their powers. The guys were unarmed, was there any need for tasers.

By the looks of it, they used it to shut them up because they wanted to say something and handcuff them. Teachers are just as bad letting the police doing their job or should i say terrible job from my perspective.

Tasers are just a tentative first step in the process of normalising the citizenry of western democracies to police brutality.

Yes they are in use in the UK.

Along with other deeply unacceptable policing "practices" including remote hacking of PCs without warrants and kettling protesters.

I can see the point of tasers actually. For instance if you have a very violent or insane person with a knife or a sword. Police have to make tough choices very fast. Using batons ,means good chance the person will be hurt, and puts the officers at risk because they have to get close. Using CS is actually quite dangerous also, just like taser their is a small chance the violent person could have some medical problem and die and CS spray, means officers could get gassed themselves in trying to restrain him. If the person is very uncontrollable, there are two options left, both not nice ones. Ist is a baton round. (a heavy plastic bullet), baton rounds break bones and can cause internal injuries ,in a minority of cases they kill. 2nd is a bullet. A drug dealer lost a testicle after being shot with a baton round. Not that I am complaining much but it shows what can happen.

So providing it is to deal with a violent man esp one with a weapon I can see the point. The problem I have with issuing it to beat officers rather than specialist ones, is the way it is easier to abuse than say a baton.A baton leaves bruises and getting close in means there is a change the dodgy copper gets hurt himself. A taser , leaves just a small area where the prongs went in.It could be used repeatedly to punish for not being 'compliant'. And where by and large Police officers are decent people, you will get some who will just love to try their new 'toys' out on people. There was a case in this country where two coppers used taser on a drunk comatose diabetic man because he wouldn't 'comply'.Thats the problem I have with this.

I understand your point but I think that the more it becomes a norm to have a taser, the more frequently will it be used by police in most cases, therefore it shouldn't belong there in the first place. That officer in the video is truly lucky to have been surrounded by so much police, had he tried that elsewhere he would of got jumped or shot depending where.

Yeah, I mean he even tasered the second guy 3 times, once in the stomach, then in the chest and then in the head. Damn! The first guy was funny though. Hahaha
