Thanks for all of these - but these are Drama school's where you study acting degrees and diplomas and not drama degrees - there is a big difference! I would like to know universities! Sorry for being a pain in the arse!

Royal Holloway is great for Drama, and has a great overall academic reputation too (unlike Manchester Met, I'm sorry to say...). Definitely recommended!

Well, I don't actually study drama so not as much as you think. Anyway, even completely objectively speaking (which I am trying to do as much as possible) RHUL is better academically than Man Met.

An acting degree from Man Met is accredited by the National counsel for Drama training, which thus gives you an equity card allowing you straight away to be a professional actor. It's like going to RADA or Central because it gets you the same thing. So its acting degree is amongst the elite as it is one of the few accredited courses. The drama degree though based on the Crewe and Alsager campus might not be as academically good as RH.

As far as drama is concerned, if you want to do a degree in it, the best places generally are warwick, bristol, kent and RH.

here's the Times ranking:

London Met is very good, although its more performing arts based...i.e. drama/dance and music incorporated!

I guess you've never heard of Jenny Eclair or Steve Coogan, huh?

If there's one thing MMU is renowned for, it is the drama department.

In terms of universities offering a more academic focus to drama then the best (in my opinion) are Bristol, Warwick (where I am hopefully going) Manchester, Kent to name a few. With drama a lot of it will depend on which course you like. Personally although on paper Bristol and Manchester are good for me the course content didn't suit. I prefered Warwick and Lancaster. As for typical offers most of the better course seem to ask for BBB (my Warwick offer for example was BBB or ABC) Hope that helps!!

An acting degree is for acting..and a drama degree is for study of plays, theatre performance and everything that goes with them although the actual content studied varies widely some are very practical whereas others are not.

Hi mate.

I applied for Warwick, Royal Holloway and Manchester for Drama and have chosen Manchester. It was a close call between Royal Holloway and Manchester but both seemed to offer very high standards and a very academic focus on the subject.

Warwick seemed slightly arty farty, as in they discussed how drama is all around and they would do their performances all over the campus, be it on a field or in a shower or toilet or something.... Not really my scene but each to their own!

I found with RH you get a much bigger input into your course - you chose loads and loads of your modules so you can basically decide what you want to do your degree on.

Isn't it Bristol? My mum went there and studied Drama, and loved it!*
Richard Curtis, among others, went there...

*It was 20 years ago, so it might have changed since then...
