    The question is basically 'why does the thermal stability of carbonates increase down group 2?'. We're doing thermodynamics, enthalpies etc etc. I can't work out why because I thought it would increase up the group due to the atoms getting smaller. I think my teacher mentioned something about the elements further up the group favouring being an oxide due to atom size? If anyone can explain it be might grateful
