    See moneysavingexpert.com

I think they judged Halifax and Barclays to be the best.

You loan doesn't decide who you bank with.

If you want a free railcard, go with Natwest.

If you want a finger in your ass, go with Santander.

It really depends what your priorities for, but there's a great guide to the current student account offerings here. For many people a large interest-free overdraft as offered by Halifax is a big draw, though the free railcard offered by NatWest is attractive if you'll be travelling by train a lot. It's worth remembering that the details of each bank's offering may well have changed by next September, though, so it's perhaps a little early for you to be considering this just yet.

I'd also suggest that you make sure that whichever bank you go with has a branch easily accessible near to both your home and your university. There are some situations where being able to speak to someone in person is by far the best way to solve the problem.
