Dentists and doctors have different roles in the field of healthcare, so why would you compare the 2? Just because they both last 5 years at uni ...

Well, I personally like having nice teeth. Would you be happier if dentistry didnt exist and we all looked like hillbillies and Jeremy Kyle types?

Whoever is looking for riches in dentistry is looking in the wrong place.

The golden age of dentistry passed some years ago.

    what a load of rubbish.
That's coming from a... *ugh*, dentist...ry applicant. How ignorant.

You can't enjoy looking at *ugh* mouths all day. Every dentist is in it for the money.

i wanted someone to tell me the need of dentistry, i want opposition to my point.
If what you mean is, is the treatment expensive, then yes I agree with you on that. A friend from a deprived area was recently told that treatment on the NHS wouldn't be sufficient and that it was either £500 to have a support for her top and bottom row of teeth (apparently they don't have the right equipment at the local dentist) and he was on benefits so couldn't afford the treatment and had to have his tooth taken out. Luckily it was near the back and his teeth didn't separate much.
On the other hand, I'm pretty sure dentists have to work hard both at uni and when in work, so I guess they should get paid well. Overall though, it is pretty unfortunate that it's expensive and I do think £70 for a filling is a lot considering it only takes the dentists 10 seconds to do.
I'd been told that the equipment they use is expensive, so you don't just pay for treatment and expertise.

There's more to dentistry than looking inside peoples mouths. You obviously don't know what it's about if that's the only thing you can say about it.
Well, that's the case for most subjects, however, I know what my dentist does. Not fun.

What will you be then? Not a dentist? A mouth researcher?
