Honestly? Like has already been said. Any degree is better than no degree.

JUST WORK HARDER! Then you'll be fine.

I'm first year zoology student and i'm dropping out. I can pass my exams but hell it includes me working my balls off (if I had any). I'd like be a "zoologist" but the modules are so boring and obsessed with genetics and chemistry. I rather be working with actual animals than poking things and using microscopes...enough of my issues

If you drop out would you persue another degree? May be costly if the funding doesn't cover it. I don't know much about law...my brother got a 2:2 and hes in a good job working for new york stock exchange. But law, is a different ball game I suppose.

I guess it depends on what you would do if you did drop out. And if staying on is going to make you miserable..you've lasted a while seeing you've made it to 2nd year which is another thing to consider.
your course will be more specialised after the 1st year, right??

What did you expect? Sitting around playing with puppies and feeding kittens all day?

Genetics and chemistry are both fascinating. Although why you'd be studying chemistry as a zooloist is beyond me. Bio chemistry perhaps.

    Anyway, yes. Good luck!
I expected more of animal behaviour and more biological diversity kinds of modules actually. And I should have researched it better but I was in another degree in the first week and changed to zoology in a sheer panic as I love animals and there was nothing else in my uni

Yeah sorry, I honestly hadn't intended on sounding like such a ****.

At least this way you can take some time out to really consider what you want to do.

Nah I didn't take any offense. Actually your post got me thinking. Now i'm considering waiting out the year (microrganisms, biochemistry and environmental biology) and then in year 2 changing my degree to Environmental Biology. This way I avoid all the genetics and some molecular studies and concentrate on the environmental side.

Beats going to the job centre everyday and quarelling with parents. And I won't lose my deposit on my accomdation. There are quite a few zoology modules mixed in with Env Bio so I wouldn't be missing out on the animal side too much.

Thanks, i'm thinking more clearly now! Sorry OP for rambling on about my issues,

You could ask to transfer to another subject at the same university, even if it means doing 3 years on top of the 2 you have already done. Then the drop out is a little easier to skim over. My friend has done this at Bath University - 2 years of Maths and now 3 of Finance and Accounting. There may be another subject to which you are more suited and which you may enjoy more.

There's no way I would ever let myself get less than a 2:1
