Hi everyone, I was just wondering if there is any law regarding the amount of lectures and seminars you can have without any breaks on 1 day! My friend has 6 hours of non-stop lectures and seminars (from 9 am till 3 pm) without any breaks for a drink or food and since you are not always allowed to eat/drink in lectures or seminars he is finding himself completely exhausted.

Primary and secondary schools have breaks and even colleges. All sorts of work have laws regarding a break after every so many hours so what about universities? Thanks for any replies!

Your friend should go to see his student reps or head of year, in our first year (combined honours) the subjects didn't talk to each other, so we ended up have two lectures next to each other, but we're 20 minutes walk away from each other (diff campus') -impossible to get to the second without being late. They managed to sort it out.

Not sure about other unis but while the lecture halls here say no food or drink the lecturers have never told anyone to not drink. Infact most people take and drink a drink. x

Yeah, at my uni it says no food and drink, but generally you can take drinks in bottles/have a sealable lid, you're asked not to bring in coffee etc from canteen.

Yeah sure if you got something to drink like a bottle or sometimes cans in the larger lecture halls that's fine really. it's just he got to get up at 8 am and is back home at like 3 pm-ish. I know that there are people who have like long days but 7 hours without a break is long even if you drink every now and then. thanks for the replies!
