Ok this may sound quite bizzare and perhaps even perverse (and God only knows what relevence it has to a student forum) however I would like to make contact with a prisoner. He has no personal relevence to me nor has he been in the public eye and press for a decade and so Im wondering whether this would be possible.

Firstly I would like to try writing to him and then maybe eventually an interview. Is it possible for someone with no press connections or relevent links?

It would be great if anyone could help! And yes I do realise I am going to come off as deranged and twisted in this post, however I can't for the life of me work out how to get annon!:woo:

You can only anon in H&R.

Send him a letter. If he writes back, then you can start building a rapport and eventually request a meeting. Ultimately though, it's very much down to the prisoner. I wouldn't harass who ever it is though.

If you have someone specific you want to get in contact with then there aren't any particular rules about who can contact a prisoner; other than them not wanting to get in contact with you, there's nothing barring you from doing so. You are perfectly free to send them a letter.

However, if you don't personally know them or how to contact them (i.e. where they are etc) then the prisoner location service the prison service operates requires you to know their full name and date of birth. http://www.hmprisonservice.gov.uk/ad...cationservice/

It'd be interesting to contact someone on death row:

Scheduled executions, it's strange to think that these people WILL die on these dates.

Executed offenders: with last statements. Quite harrowing.

If this has anything to do with academic research I would strongly suggest that you ask about getting ethics approval first :p:
