Hello, I'd just like some thoughts and opinions on an email I received regarding my application to study Biomaterial Science and Tissue Engineering there. The email says:
"Our Admissions Team has considered your application and before confirming your offer would like to invite you one of our Open Days, which will include a short 20-minute interview."
Does this mean that they have an offer ready in mind and I must go to the interview to just fulfil a policy of theirs or something along those lines?
I have already taken up their offer of the open day and interview, I'm just curious about how close or far away I am from receiving an actual offer.
Thank you for any responses

Depends on the university, and I'm not all that familiar with Sheffield or the course, but usually when they say that it means "We have an offer ready to give you, and as long as you don't completely screw up the interview and make a really bad impression of yourself, we'll give you that offer". Obviously no promises though.

I'd say you were pretty close to acceptance. Just dress well and sound smart
