I struggle with making an impact on the last sentence. Do you make an intelligent, perhaps even witty, comment or do you simply sum up your facts? Or do you make a philisophical comment, relating to the wider context or none of the above?

(My essay is on the parallels of an author's life to the plot events in the novel and I just simply cannot find a good ending sentence.)

    Please help

I started writing a reply to this yesterday, struggled a bit, and gave up... but seeing as no one has replied yet I'll have another go.

I think that the last paragraph should sum up facts (but not repeat them!!) Philosophical comments also feature widely in my final paragraphs, as do wider contexts comments ... but ... I do tend to 'save' something for the final sentence, however minor, just because if your essay ends in a 'flat' kinda way, this is likely to be the lasting impression of your essay as a whole.

If you like I'll PM you the last paragraph of my A2 coursework (I got 20/20) if it would help?
