The Pill, symptoms and when to stop it

I'm booked for an appointment Wednesday morning about the pains I'm having, but I'm just wondering whether it's too late to stop the Pill or not to see if it is the Pill that's causing it.

Looked through my instructions and they say to stop it immediately if you get short, sharp pains in the chest area, but this is down where my ovaries are, so I've no idea.

I don't know whether to stop it or not, as I'm not sure if stopping it now (less than a week before my appointment) will have any effect.

Should I stop it/see a pharmacist (and ask)? Or carry on until I see the doctor? It'll be about five weeks or so since the pain started when I see him (I got my calculations wrong - weeks have gone so fast) so I'm just wondering if it's too late.

Thanks.

I have no idea, I've never taken the pill - but it definately sounds like you should see a doctor. (Not helpful I know, you've already booked an appointment...) Until then, maybe ask a pharmacist?

Go see a doc, sounds similar to what i've been experiencing.

I have a question to add to this thread (don't want to start another annoying pill thread) Is it OK to run 3 packs together without a break? Sorry to hijack! Hope someone can answer.
I'm just thinking about how I ask the pharmacist though. Do I go into detail about the pain or do I just say "I've been having pains but I'm not sure if it's because of the Pill or not. I've got an appointment on Wednesday but do you think it's too late to stop it? Will there be any effect?"

I think so. I know you can do two, and I know some people do it all the time (I've heard people say it's okay, and others say that you should do it occasionally).

Kavanne - 3 yes, but no more than that.

Lostinfantasies - Are you just seeing a pharmacist and not a doctor? I think you should see a doctor - they'll be able to examine you. and yes go into detail, they'll ask you all sorts and you need to be able to give detailed answers. Say your concerns about the pill, they'll know if its related or not.
Yeah I'm seeing the doctor on Wednesday, and possibly a pharmacist tomorrow about whether to stop taking the Pill before I go to the doctors'.

i see.....i dont think it'll make much difference to be honest...i'd keep on taking it until you see the doctor - don't just stop taking the pill, it's not wise to just stop in the middle of a pack :-\

How bad? Heavy and/or painful? Are they usually light for you, though?

EDIT: But it's ok to go swimming with a tampon, right? I think i've done it before, but can't remember!

Ring NHS direct they'll tell you whether to stop taking it now or wait til you see the doc.

I'm not entirely sure how to be honest, but i remember being told that by the woman who came into school with her bags of Always and Tampax.

well before i was on the pill my periods were really heavy and lasted like 7 days, on the pill there much lighter and last 4 days max but if ive run a couple of packs together they'll still last about 4 days but will be a bit heavyer and be a little more painful.

ive never run more than one pack together, even though coming on is an inconvience, id prefer to get it out of my system. I just feel refreshed after finishing, like a breathe of fresh air.
Thanks guys!

Just come back from the pharmacist and she said to stop it for the next few days (up until I see the doctor) and if the pain eases, tell the doctor and he'll put me on another one.
My appointment's actually today at 10, not Wednesday, so I'll let you all know what the doctor says/if I have to change the Pill (again), etc.

Haven't been on the Pill since Friday, and it's still happening, so will definitely tell him that.

Thanks for your help!
Strange, my periods are pretty much the same on the pill as before it.. just a little shorter. But then i've only been taking it a couple of months..

BTW, v. ignorant question... if you happened to get pregnant on the pill, would you have a period? Because they're not "real" periods are they
