Do I apply for student finance even if I'm not at university yet? I'm on my gap year.

What I don't understand is you have to apply using your first choice on UCAS for university. What happens if you don't get into your first choice at university? Does that mean you have to redo you student finance application?

Right now I'm just on a gap year waiting for my final results to come out in March.

Yes. Apply as soon as possible, as Student Finance takes months to finish processing your application, and if you have to send evidence then it could take even longer. If you apply now, it practically makes sure that you'll get your loan/grant in time for September.

If you don't get into your firm choice, then you can ring up Student Finance and they will amend any details that have changed.
