Dropping a subject included in conditional offer watch

    • Thread Starter

Well I got an offer for Optometry to obtain BB in higher and CC in advanced higher. One of the advanced higher is physics which im really struggling in and found out that in the preliminary exam i got 29% . So I have been advised to drop it.

The thing is i have yet to hear back from Pharmacy at strathclyde and it is essential i either do Pharmacy or Optometry in glasgow as i dont want to move from home. Now i want to know if a conditional offer can be changed if i contact the uni which offered me optometry conditional?

Also how do i go about notifying UCAS and all my other uni choices?

Or should i insist in staying despite knowing i'll fail the final exam....

Universities do reserve the right to withdraw an offer if you aren't doing the same subjects you were doing when they first gave you the offer, even if they didn't specify a grade..
So I would say don't drop it.. But perhaps calling the specific universities would be a good idea, as they may all deal with it differently..

You need to call the uni and ask for advice. They may say it's fine to drop it, but they can amend or withdraw their offer if they want to.

Contacted the uni, the have dropped the offer for Physics, so it's now BBC instead of BBCC. Much happier now.

Contacted my other choices who have not given an offer for Physics and they have advised me to stick with it as it will benefit me in the long run. So is it possible for me to stay in Physics but not sit in the final exam, just for knowledge purposes??

    Of course.
