    It is an Ethernet Cable...

Cat5, or Category 5 cable is the type of cable used.

but it's different to RJ45? or not? I'd give up, I'm a lost cause when it comes to hardware. Software is where it's at

Cat5 refers to the grade and type of the actual wire. RJ45 is a misnomer - RJ45 is a completely different thing. The actual name for the connector on the end of an Ethernet cable is an 8P8C connector.

Cat5 is used as networking cable, but that's just one of the uses. It can also be used to run RS-422, audio, video, both audio and video, and even buzzer circuits.

    Ethernet can also carry power...

that is if you only use 2 pairs for data, limiting the speed to 100Mbps

 that made me laugh out loud how you did that :teehee:

I'm 99% decided on my laptop (impulse buy ftw), but I will not order it before Friday. Today and tomorrow I'll read/watch a few more reviews and also look at the rest of the market. I may also make a thread in mobile computing :p:

    Wutt.

Talk about priorities... My routine is, wake up at ~10am, brunch, study until ~1pm, break, 4pm-tea(~6pm) study. This starts tomorrow, I didn't start studying until half 12.

I do have priorities, I'm just not keeping to them. I have an entire revision schedule but at the moment the laptop is more important  (you know what it's like when you want a new toy)
