    Put everything you want with that margin using:
    HTML Code:
    <div id="body text">
    // code
    </div>
    still not working

    also, in my css file, does the tag need a hash at the beginning or not?

    i now have in the HTML (tried with 'text' and 'body text'):
    <div id="text">random sentence over a line long.</div>

    in the CSS (tried with and without the hash):
    #body text{
    margin:10;
    }

    Where is your CSS file? In the actual HTML or an external text file?

    I don't know whether to classify laptops by category (size) or by brand. See posts #3 and #4 - which is better?

    Size is the most sensible answer. If you class by size, you can still tell who makes it by the name of the laptop. If you class by manufacturer, there's no way to tell the size without clicking, or without you adding the size in next to each one (which would look messy).

    In the <head> tag, have you included the CSS file?

    HTML Code:
    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="example.css" />

    yes
    remember, i do get the first line indented, so the css file is working.

    I imagine you're using Firefox? I remember IE didn't work very well at all with my CSS. What software are you using?
