    Avast :ta:
    :ditto:

Avast is superior, I've used both AVG and MSE previously but none of them detected trojans in pop ups. Avast does, ok maybe the ones I had previously might not have had trojans but I visit the same sites often and the pop ups are generally the same.

Avast does REAL time scanning, and it actually does.

    Argh!

Brother's computer's stopped POSTing. Hasn't responded to removing everything from the mobo and trying to put bits in one by one. No beeps from the internal speaker. No response from the screen. The only time it did respond said that the "previous attempt to overclock had failed" and offered to revert back to factory settings. This failed. Thing is, my brother doesn't even know how to overclock, so he's not done anything to it.

Tried also resetting the BIOS by removing the CMOS battery. No joy.

    Thoughts?

Indeed. I've forgotten my ruddy multimeter, so I can't test the PSU and I don't have any replacement parts or my test rig to check the other components with. Anyone got any thoughts on what might have caused it?

[EDIT] He ironically has a mac :p: but that's his other computer.
