Free 3G for ever? And having tons of stuff to read might actually encourage me to, well, read stuff. :awesome:

Of course. It's also got a built-in Wikipedia and Google search, apparently.

And pay monthly for 3G? Plus doubling the price of the unit to get a decent enough phone? And have no way of reading books without doing my eyes in? Hmm. :holmes:

There are so many threads on kindles! I just can't find any of them!
The free 3g forever sounds nice.
Personally, I vote stanza on an iphone/ipod touch. Music, reading, videos, safari on wifi. Blah blah.
I'm just not convinced with paying so much for something which just reads ebooks (is that all it does?) and browses 'tinternet.
Edit: and iphone/ipod touch doesn't do my eyes in...I don't think :erm:

Not convinced with the Kindle. At £10 a month I get unlimited 3G on my phone and the ebook apps are really good, why bother with a specialist device just to read books?
On a side note, does anyone know if its possible to get BBM on Android?

at £149.99 it looks like it fulfils all the uses of the iTampon[TM] at a miniscule fraction of the cost and the 3G is free!

God, the kindle trounces the iTampon[TM]

    So, I was thinking right.
ipod classic/nano = other mp3 players (say zune)
iphone = other smartphones (android, windows mobile)
    ipad ~ kindle
    ipod touch = ????
What is there currently that offers similar features to an ipod touch? I.e. wifi + browser, music player, video player, [app store (optional)], pocket size, but with no monthly charges as with smartphones.
Obviously you could just get a PAYG smartphone and not ring anyone, but I imagine that would be a little more pricey than an ipod touch for what you're getting.
