any ideas on how it does that?
(I missed this) - It's something to do with: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/APNG but I'm not entirely sure what.

    This is the crucial quote:
APNG hides the subsequent frames in PNG ancillary chunks in such a way that APNG-unaware applications would ignore them
Chrome/IE/safari don't support APNG hence just the first frame is displayed.
One assumes that the actual animation is specified as 0ms for the first frame, so firefox users (where APNG is supported) just see the second frame.

*sigh* After getting frustrated with Linux Mint (Ubuntu 32 base), I've uninstalled, and am back to solely using Windows. I MAY try an Arch install, but that may not be until my next machine due to the fact that an extra 40GB has the benefit of more room for Steam and GOG.com games (both ofwhich recently expanded thanks to the sale).

EDIT: Yes, there MAY be benefits of a lightweight installation for programming, and so forth, but if that's all I use, I may as well use Linux through a VM, as most of my time is spent inside Windows anyway.

    Nice design, I like it.
Minor cosmetic suggestion, in the primary navigation bar perhaps put some way of symbolising which links are external (i.e. facebook, twitter)? The character that springs to mind is '>>', but I can't currently find the actual unicode symbol.
