This thread is lacking cleavage tbh.
See that's not subtle. It isn't nice cleavage, it's slut cleavage.

Why do women wear low cut tops and show cleavage?

Because we damn well want to.
sorry but i think that is what you were made to believe...do you think women who lay down on cars semi naked in car shows do it because they want to? or were they brainwashed to think that it is actually a good thing for the man to exploit those women plus get more money because of it...there are some people who buy car magazines just for the girls in it!!!!

Respect is based on far more things than appearance. As a general rule, I don't show all that much off, but I'm not ashamed of being female.
Perhaps the problem lies with you, if you can't look at a woman with a little cleavage showing without losing all respect for her. You are hardly in the majority.
agreed respect is based on other things than just the appearance, but believe me appearance does have an effect also, and the majority of men, do look down upon a woman showing cleavage (literally & figuratively)

i had a feeling that a pervert would put on pictures of women showing cleavage, that shows the mentality of some men regarding women with cleavage...they do not respect them and women showing off have a hand in building such a reputation

another sad case, so you are telling me anyone who has a penis will disrespect women and stare at their cleavage and be horny all the time?

there is something called self control and respect and decency, which i think are not in your dictionary....

Women dress the way they do for a number of different reasons. and i very much doubt that the primary one is to be given the status of a "sex object".

    You're fighting a losing battle here chief...:hat2:

I say it again. It's not exploitation. What position are you in, as a MALE, to have any idea what these women think and feel? None at all.

What about men who walk round topless? Men who show off their bodies on TV/adverts/etc etc? Are THEY being exploited too?

we have to take things into perspective, an ad about a shaving cream or machine, you see a woman in it!!! why?
car magazines, cheerleaders in sports!! and the list goes on.....on the other hand, how many of the ladies shows/products you see men in them, and even if they appear you hardly see them stripping for attention..don't you see a trend? it is a male dominated media and they want to sell and will use any means for it, hence, using women as objects, it is very obvious...

coming back to how women feel, i am not saying i can know for sure what she feels, but at least i can see how they might have been brainwashed, because when a woman strips in front of the public for no reason, it comes as unnatural, so there must have been some programming done to those women so that they do it and actually feel good about it......and looking at it from a man's viewpoint, it is degrading and disrespectful and i am sure you do know of the usual comments men make regarding such women......it is anything but respect...

you did not get my point, no women really wants to be treated as a sex object, it is the male dominated society which uses them as sex objects to satisfy their needs and especially to make more money.....why women dress in skimpy outfits dance in front of a crowd at sporting events????????? if the excuse is entertainment, why only women? and why in skimpy outfits????? there is a reason behind it....it is not some innocent thing

Quite a few actually. My gender means I have more knowledge on this than you. And male strippers...are they as 'exploited' as female strippers?

    (Original post by saalih)

Well don't act like you know then.

But surely the human form is one of the most natural things you can see?

yes even male strippers are exploited but they do not form the majority, women are more exploited because of the male dominated society...

    (Original post by armageddonbride)

i am not acting like i know, but i do also interact with women and get an idea of how they feel about things you know....

yes people do get programmed/brainwashed and media is surely one of the biggest most effective weapons in doing so...if you are into reading, you should read this book titled "manufacturing consent"
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manufacturing_Consent

and this is exactly what i feel happened through hollywood and other forms of entertainment, they programmed women into exposing and dressing less and less until we reached this sad state we live in today where decency is practically gone and the term modesty has almost no meaning.....

We like to see beauty, this type of thing pleases us. Companies who utilise models for promo's are doing it for exactly this reason. It means there's more chance of people tuning it to watch it and/or actually attending the event. And only women because in general, men are so much more wired and pervy than women.

Not all women are the same, believe it or not. Perhaps the women you interact with are of a similar standing as you, therefore not valid to make a generalisation of all women.

I actually find your generalisation that women are under the power of men who are encouraging them to do something that is not of their free will, etc etc, sexist and outdated.

no, it is not sexist but look around you and you will see that from a long time ago, with the help of hollywood, women have been turned into sex objects rather than human beings.....and they were successful in brainwashing women to believe that whatever they do, dance naked infront of cars or be pornstars, it is something good and it is equality with men!!!!

yes so being pervy is normal? using women to satisfy horny men is ok? what becomes the status of women then?

You have this absurd notion that just because you have a certain belief, that everyone else does or should too. It's a ridiculous mindset to be in. Of course not every man will think like you do, there are men more pervy than others, there has been since the dawn of time. Just because you make a thread on an internet forum, doesn't mean you can or have the right to change someones state of mind. And if this is your aim, to influence people on the internet, Give up. lol.
