    Hey Hula,

    I'm new here

    A useful website is www.couchsurfing.org

I booked some tickets through a budget airline www.airasia.com
If you wanted to come to New Zealand or Australia.
It might be cheaper to stop off in Kuala Lumpur
then flying onwards to Australia and New Zealand.

(arh more travel advice arh.. airlines aren't the only form of transport. Like If your travelling to south east asia perhaps go to vietnam and train/bus/bike yourself to Kuala Lumpur/Bangkok/Phuket)

A quick search will bring up a lot of info on RTW travel. Here's a couple that might be helpful.

I've never done it myself so I can't really add anything else. Good luck with it anyway.

Hmm. I posted a reply but it seems to have disappeared for some reason. Here it is again:

You can only book specific flights 11 months in advance I believe, so if you wanted to buy a RTW ticket this month (Feb 2010) to fly out of the UK in June 2010, if you wanted to return any later than January 2011 the travel agent/airline or whoever you buy it from would put in a 'dummy date' such as December 2010 or whatever and then you would have to pay a small fee later to change it. I'm not sure how long they actually last though i.e. in what time period you would have to actually take all the flights, including the last one back to the UK.

I booked my Qantas/British Airways RTW flight ticket through Flight Centre and changed my specific flights (and destinations!) sooooooo many times, just by phoning Qantas direct while I was away.

There's a recent thread here about RTW flights which might answer a few questions for you
