I'm sorry, but it's a clerical error - he has qualifications and the board will recognise this. You can't "lose" A Levels because of an error like that. If it was intentional, then sure, you wouldn't have any grades. But it was an administrative mistake, and his identity will have been checked prior to sitting the exams.

There's no need for him to resit the exams on the basis of a mistake made by his school; that's just plain stupid. The school will simply tell AQA/OCR/WJEC etc that they made an error and pay the cost to rectifiy the mistake. He'll be sent new certificates without any problems
    This. :yep:

People who are suggesting the OP changes his name etc, are being ridiculous. Why would you change your name on every other document that confirms your identity just because it was slightly wrong on your exam certificates?

Dude this happened to me aswell

I was told to bring my certificates back to school to allow the exam officer to ring up the exam board and hopefully they'll send me the certificates with my right name on.

It was the Edexcel board btw.

Err..not yet, I've only recieved my certificates recently and notice the names wrong.

But it shouldn't be a problem for you, just bring the certificates with the wrong name on and your passport to your school's exam officer and they should fix the problem. I just hope they don't take to long to send off the certificates.

They spelt my name with an A instead of a Z. I doubt you'll have to resit the exams just to get the certificate again it's a administrative error and through no fault of yours..so don't worry it'll work out fine.

They wrongly added a middle name for me which doesn't exist.
Not the end of the world. I doubt universities will send you packing.

Just contact the exam board and explain the cockup and see if they can reprint/etc.

At my school we all had a chance to check over our details to avoid mistakes like this, I'm surprised all schools don't follow this simple but necessary protocol.

Get the exam officer to redo your certificates (ie send off the forms again etc). Then burn his house down for the inconveinence.

Well then if they done all the checks you have no qualification, because technically you aren't the person on the exam certificate.
You are talking complete nonsense. It is easily changed.

I just recieved an email from the private exam centre (that I took my exam in) they say "normally changes to a name once certificates have been printed is not possible" I will have to contact the exam board my self. But I clearly remember filling in the application WITHOUT my middle name. It's clearly their mistake and now they are trying to get away from it~~~well.. they are not going to

The exam board can change it. It costs money though. They print you a new certificate.
