    (I got Rcosα = 12 and Rsinα=-4)
    b) I can do, its solving a trig equation where f(x)=7

    c) Write the minimum value of 12cosx-4sinx and find the smallest +ve value for which this minimum value occurs.

    That coding is meant to be alpha, which has worked everywhere else :curious:

    Is the weird bit meant to be alpha?

    The x seems to have no input to it at all. All I've done so far is use double angle to expand Rcos(theta + alpha) to Rcos(theta)cos(alpha) + Rsin(theta)sin(alpha), and then got those values from that. Then you do something with pythagoras to find the value of R, but I'm stuck on that part.

    Usually with these questions, theta is the equivalent of x, like it's a function of theta, and alpha is a little extra bit.

    And for part c, I'm guessing the minimum value would be where cos(x) is smallest, because it has the biggest coefficient, but I'm not sure.
