OK, so my teacher didn't actually specify the word limit, she said just aim for this number to this number. But, I'm heading for double the *limit* number, will I lose marks for writing double I'm *supposed* to?

for WJEC then probably not, unless its a descriptive task - if its a letter or essay, then most likely not not much clue for other exam boards! I doubled my word limit on WJEC and still got an A* so

As far as I am aware, there is no word limit for GCSE English coursework. I wrote 23 pages for one of my assignments and no marks were deducted.

No, there is not. However, your teacher may recommend a word count. The assignments do not need to be lengthy in order to achieve the highest marks.

No. My english teacher told us there was a maximum word count. I gave mine in (It was double the word count) and she shouted at me and said i had to cut half of it....took me 3 hours!. NExt day she says o i was only joking...worst thing: she wrote all over my coursework saying 'extend this' 'u need more here'. I couldnt believe she was lying after she sat down with me for nearly an hour after school telling me what to cut! I ended up giving the orginal version to her!
