Canadian universities: special fees for French students watch

    • Thread Starter

You're probably not aware of this but in the mostly French-speaking Canadian province of Quebec, the fee structure is organised that Quebec residents pay the lowest fees, followed by other Canadian citizens from other provinces and finally non-Canadian students (I think American students might have slightly more advantageous fees than other internationals).

Anyway, for several decades, there's been a very strange arrangement so that French citizens pay the fees of Quebec citizens. This might not seem like a huge deal but it can mean that they pay a tenth of the price...

Considering that Canada has great universities like the University of Toronto and McGill, don't you think that maybe British and other Commonwealth students should have lower fees too?
