Ok so I just started on the pill - microgynon 30 - about 3 weeks ago, for the first time ever. On Wednesday I'm supposed to take my break for a week to have my period.
Since Friday though, I've been feeling more and more ill, finding it excruciatingly painful to swallow... and now I have white pustles on my tonsils. So I'm pretty sure I have tonsillitis.

What's the general procedure if I need to start taking antibiotics while I'm in my pill 'break'? How will this affect the absorption of the pill and what precautions will I need to be taking? I'm just really stressing because I've not been in this situation before. The doctor told me what to do if it was during the 3 weeks that I'm on the pill.. but nothing about the break.

    Will really appreciate any info!

i think it makes it less effective, so use another method of contraception during the time you are taking the pill and for 7 days after. you can run packs together, you dont have to take the break btw, so maybe think of doing that? ask a gp if its stressing you that much!! tbh, i know antibiotics make it less or not effective, so if you just have your break as normal, then carry on with the next packet, and when you finish your antibiotics, make sure you take them for 7 days AFTER you have finished and that will ensure you are protected
