I sent my passport and other important documents to Durham uni a few weeks ago, does anyone know roughly what the turn around time is for getting the documents back to you? I'm asking in general for any university.

The students on my course filled in their CRBs online, then Brunel asked us bring in our documents in ourselves for them to double check and copy. Where possible, people came in on a specified document check day or made appointments to come in before term started. Otherwise, they did it after term started in between lectures. The local authority I worked for before I started my Masters also made staff members and prospective adopters & foster carers bring in their documentation for checking by staff. It's so risky to have important forms of ID floating aroud the notoriously rotten British postal system or sitting around in someone's office where anyone can look at them or they might get lost. Personally, I find it odd that such a reputable uni as Durham would ask their students to do this.
