I have an 'informal' one-to-one interview at Lancaster university this week for biological sciences.

What actually is an 'informal' interview and what do you think it will involve?

Haven't had an interview before and so i'm a bit worried:eek3:

Exactly what it implies, having a casual, informal chat with a lecturer. Nothing too much to worry about, you'll probably only be talking about your PS, and hobbies and interests.

Would it be fair to assume you'll probably get an offer after it?

As long as you don't completely make a mess of it of course.

It means they probably won't be testing your knowledge of the subject, they liked your PS and want to get to know you a bit more before offering you a place

I had one of these and it was just about why i wanted to do chemistry, hobbies etc. Nothing to worry about but make sure you have lots to say about everything on your personal statement because it provides a framework for the conversation. I lied in my PS about an area of chemistry i was interested in and I read up about it so i could talk about in the interview. Very glad i did as the interviewer specialised in it!
