Its prob the interview and work exp tbh. Only ever done one interview and that was at notts. This was for the 6 year course to start with. I didnt do A levels. I did BTEC national diploma in animal management and AS biology. If I do take another year out Im gonna try and do as much work exp as poss. its money more than anythn that holds me back. I dont live near farms etc so Id have to travel and it costs quite a bit when you only work 12 hours a week paid. I'll think of something... =/
I think you should re apply! I did the BTEC national diploma, and I was rejected last year, and took a year out, I had finished college and had no idea what to do, and couldnt hack living with my mum really, I love her too bits but sometimes just need my own space! So I finished college got rejected contacted all the unis and got Feedback which was vital!!! I then did everything they asked and more, I worked in a cafe to get some money and then did lots of work exp, at lots of different places! and fortunatly it has paid off as I got my offer. So dont give up (And im 21 in 9 days so no worries about age, I know someone who started training at 34 - and have heard of people doing it much later in life!) And dont give up on Bristol? I only heard from Bristol on Friday for an interview this wednesday!
Have you thought about doing post grad? do another degree (contact the vet school and ask which ones they will accept with what grades) with the aim of then going onto vet sci, or doing more work experience and then doing evening course A levels. There are tonnes of options and you will get there! And be awesome

Hiya, No thats not quite how it works I qualify for both,
The lincoln gateway: Is open to students with a BTEC at straight Distinction, or a levels at the lower grades so I can apply with my BTEC
The pre lim at nottingham: Is for people with high grades in A levels but not in science subjescts
and the pre lim at bristol: Is for BTEC's and other vocational subjects And A levels at AAB excluding bio and chem

So I can apply for the lincoln gateway and the Bristol Pre lim, xx

my friend did a couple of day long courses from chemistry last year, she said they were really useful and she managed to go from a C at AS
to an A in every module at A2, I can try and find out where it was as you live pretty near me
Yeah that would be really useful. I'm hoping to book very soon, so I'd love to get the details of these courses.

    my AS's were BBCC

dropped physics at a B, and A2's AAA

proves you can do it =)

but to be fair, i did lock myself im my room over christmas, and i should have bought shares in red bull and pro plus, the amount i took haha, (including the following summer xD )

i mean, im not recomending it, but i would revise til 5am the day of my exam, get 2 hours kip, then go do exam, come home, revise a bit, afternoon nap, then revision/red bull sesh. it worked for me haha
I could not do that :o: I'd just die, haha.

i went earlier this year, I would like to go back again though,

I dont know how to quote two people
but yes you do need to be 18 for insurnce purposes, and even then a lot of abbatoirs wont take students until they actually start vet school, for insurance purposes.

I'm not sure, the one I wrote to said they could take me when I turned 18, and to rewrite then.

Abbatoirs are reely good but scary when they use a shotgun and make sure u get a peg cos they stink! haha but if you want to go to a zoo, they are amazing! dont go to chester zoo cos theyre mean and have a 2 year waiting list anyway but go to twycross!! theyre amaaazing and reely nice people there 2 other things to make ureself stand out are reely odd things that others dont have like a goat farm or a specialist bovine insemination unit etc... the possibilities are endless if u talk about them a bit on ure personal statement as well then unis will be like oo we want to interview this person to find out about that!

oo and steph, HOLIDAYS are awesomeee!! plus egypt does reely nice cocktails and beaches, got me through my french revision last year

Yes a peg is definatly needed, however you might look a bit silly I think rubbing some Viks vapo rub under your nose might work better lol,
Bristol Zoo was fantastic, and I have heard great things about Twycross too!

lol unfortunatly no, Bristol is about a 2 year waiting list as far as I am aware nearly all of the zoo's are, I could be wrong though I think maybe Twycross is slightly less, not 100% though so dont quote me on that! x

Just to make sure: are we allowed to do one little resit of a module? I'd like to do a resit of my bio jan exam. I'm not a 100% sure if the 'you're not allowed to resit' rule applies to not being able to resit whole A level or single modules.
sorry it took long for me to reply.
im sure you can do resits in june. you do as many as you want to get the grades in august. i did quite a few resits of modules in june, before i went to lincoln.
just email them to make sure though.
email nottingham, lincoln will be of no help at all.
edit: Skatealexia (the post below this one) phoned lincoln and you can resit.

haha ye that might work better. twycross wasnt too bad when i went but u have to be clever about it, like book it early and get the direct e-mail address of the person whos in charge of it, i think shes called philippa weston... but dont book in the holidays cos they'll be full, if u manage to get weekdays thats great cos thats when the vet comes but i managed to get my time cos i went down for 3 weekends in february, summers also way more popular than winter, just to add good luck! if u get it at any zoo you will love it!
