I didn't really feel the need to put it in Sexual Health as it's not actually related to that in my case. I need to do two HIV tests this year and next year as I'm going abroad in two different countries that require it. Now the first one, I don't really mind, but I'm only gonna be for home a month between the time I go back from my first semester and the time I go to my second country. Now my question is how long does it take to get the results of an HIV test?

I know it depends on the type of test done, some can take minutes, some weeks.

There is a test which takes 15 minutes.
There is a test which takes 3 weeks.
Also, if you have HIV, it can take up to 3 months for it to test positive.

Some can take less than a day, others several weeks... it depends on the circumstances, I suppose.

Right I got three times the same answer, I think that's enough, thanks, any details on which one I'm meant to have?

I should say you will be given a rapid test (same day results) if you're going to be travelling soon or if the dates of your journeys are close together. I did try to find more information for you online, but the details were a bit sketchy in places so I'm afraid I couldn't tell you for sure OP.

    Either way, good luck.
