I -was- applying to join the RAF as a Regiment or Weapon systems officer. However, My application was stopped 2 weeks before my P2 as I had gone travelling for just over 28 consecutive days within the past five years (annoyingly RECENTLY in the past 5 years!).

I was told that at present, because of the number of applicants, the RAF had altered the residency requirments and seeing as my travel did not correspond to any of the 'ok' reasons My application was halted.

I was wondering if there was anyone who had a similar experience or anyone who could tell me how to contest this?

I'd like to apply for a residency waiver but I'd also like to do it right - not hassle the wrong people in the wrong way!

Thanks for any help you can give me!

I have been living in new zealand since aug 2006 and the security regulations (having to live in uk for 5 years prior to app) that came out in dec 2008 initially stopped my chances of even applying. After many emails and being passed from pillar to post I wrote a letter and addressed it to the top man (Sir stephen Dalton) explaining my situation and the fact i had already served 10 years in the RAF from 90-2000. About 1 month later I received a letter from air vice marshall baz north advising me that i had been given a security waiver.

So..............if i were you i would google the above name and fire a letter off to him as he is de man.
(i havent got the address im afraid but you should find it on google)

    good luck

My recruiter filled out all the forms for me and I had to do all sorts of nonsense for the FBI. In the end it wasn't approved; that was two months in America, for a comparison.
