Depends why they don't talk a lot. If it is , as the title suggests, because they are shy then the best advice is to make sure you don't stress them as it will just make them more afraid of saying something. Make sure it is easy for them to talk when they want to, don't interupt them ( I am a terrible sinner when it comes to interupting people ) and listen to what they have to say when they do talk. Other than that I don't know as I am not particularily shy myself ( I talk a LOT. People some times make fun of me telling me to breath in between ). Regardless you can't really force peopel to have a conversation with you if they don't want to ( Once again, anyone who knows me in person will laugh hard right about now ). Best thing to do is probably to make it as easy as possible for them to talk to you without feeling embarresed.

you can start by saying hello and how are you doing atm like all my friend do and start building it from there.
If he (i suspect you are talking to a quiet lad) says something that sparks something in ur mind then continue to talk about it.

Just don't do teh same mistake as I do all the time starting to talk about yourself instead.

im a person with 'not much to say'. I tend to get on with people who are outgoing (complete opposite of myself) or someone who shares the same interests as me. Its only then i start to feel more comfortable around people, otherwise i just tend to listen to other people talking :redface:

Crush or friend ? Why don't you just ask her if she wants to join you to teh movies or smth. That shoudl work eitehr way. If she is just a friend just get some otehr peopel to come along and there shoudl be no mixups :rolleyes:
