I am a student of English lit in the Netherlands and for our language proficiency course we have to write an essay of 2500 words on a topic of our choice.
I would like to write about Romanticism. I have been thinking of how medieval romance influenced the english romanticism. i have no idea where to start and if it is a suitable topic, which texts to look at etc...
    any suggestions?

    thanks a lot

try sir walter scott. ivanhoe is set in the mediaeval era if i'm not mistaken, and he is considered a Romantic era novelist. Try googling about chaucer influencing the Romantics. In Tennyson's poems (Romantic style) there is mediaeval influence, esp about the Lady of Shallott and Arthur.
