If she is less intelligent than you, OP, Lord help us all if the two of you were to procreate.

My friend is dating someone that doesn't know what 'karma' or 'conscience' means. I wouldn't date someone like that because I wouldn't be able to have normal conversations with them!

I just couldn't date someone 'very less intelligent' than me, I don't mean in an academic sense particularly (so the op's situation is ridiculous at best, as he hasn't given the girl a chance) but if the girl lacked some sort of wit or quick thinking (sense of humour is a good indication) I'd get bored quickly, Ideally I want someone more intelligent than me, Keep me in check. I've only find one, and our affections were mistimed.

It would depend on the circumstances. Like most here, I like to be able to converse with my special someone. And there are degrees of human ability to do this. Most anyone you meet in your age/peer group is probably going to be able hold a normal conversation with you, talking about anything from sports to philosophy or what ever their interests are. It's only the occasional exception, where people are really not able to see things the way most people do, Autism for example.

However I too have trouble seeing how studying to be a Beauty Therapist means this girl must be of lesser intelligence, just because the grades to get into Glasgow are more strict. I can only presume the OP means no offense by this but I would hope he does not bring this up to the girl, it could potentially be really offensive.

I think if they lacked actual common sense, or thought acting stupid was funny/attractive, then no. I would want to have someone who I could share my slightly weird sense of humour with
But if they were less intelligent then me then I wouldn't care, as long as I got on with them and had a laugh, then I don't think it would matter that much.

I wouldn't call myself really clever anyway haha, predicted BBC at A level, so compared to most people on this site i'm not that intelligent

'training as a beauty therapist' doesn't equate to low intelligence levels, in the same way that 'higher grades' don't equate to high intelligence levels. Can you have a decent conversation with her? Do you have similar interests/hobbies? These aspects are more linked to intelligence than beauty therapy training and A-level grades.

Your original post is atrociously ironic, but that aside-

Qualifications don't denote your intelligence or social ability; the guy I dated before my current partner is doing five A-Levels, has an unconditional offer for Cambridge to do Physics and although we shared some interests, he couldn't actually communicate with me on a normal level and hated socialising (even with his own friends who are all like him, with mine it was even more of a nightmare). I felt completely thick when he made some maths joke because I'm not very numerate, and having to do all the work talking to people for him was exhausting. My friends hated him because he patronised them without even thinking about their backgrounds and education.

On a similar note if you're so intelligent, stop patronising this girl for what she wants to do with her life just because it doesn't fit into what you believe is right; you might find her to be very different to what you expect and hopefully your horizons will be broadened.

Would you by any chance be willing to share some of those math jokes? :woo:

I'll start with a math pick-up line: You must be complex, because you look unreal. (would never date to use it myself though)
