Hypothetically, in the summer having received results A* in Maths and B in Further Maths, do the exam boards (OCR MEI especially) allow you to move modules between Maths and Further Maths, while still keeping within the rules, to obtain say two A's overall. Apparently OCR MEI award by default the maximum possible grade using the lowest units in Maths, then the rest go to further maths. Has anyone has experience with this? Is it even possible to suggest a better combination, and how does this work?

These are the rules for the award of grades (in maths, f.maths, ad.f.maths etc), complex I know!
From these you would be awarded an A* in maths first, if you have the modules to make up an A* grade, before any grade for further maths is awarded.
However, since the A* in maths is only dependant on C3 and C4, which cannot be used to make up an further maths A-level, achieving an A* in maths is less likely to affect your grade in further maths.
However if you can get an A* in maths, and in the process you would be awarded a B in further maths, you will not be allowed to move modules over to further maths qualification if this involves reducing your maths grade to an A.
