are they still dangerous, if you put a cream with very high protection before going on them?

I think you have to use special stuff, not normal suncream

okay- seriouslly if you use sun cream tho u still wanna tan fast!
to tan fast you need to overexpose yourself to harmful rays! - so regerdless of wheather you put suncream on or not theres stiill a huge risk of skin damage and cancer.
I know its not ideal but ur best bet is to go fake!- i hate fake but hey- a girls got a life to live.
Dont risk it! wots the point in being tanned if its gunna kill you! when ur lying in your coffin no ones gunna say shes a nice colour!

There's not a huge risk of contracting cancer at all, if you are sensible and only go on sunbeds occasionally. The people that go on them for too many minutes and too often are the ones at risk.

Well a girl in my class recently went to the doctors and got a UV Scan and her skin was f*cked from sunbeds...

But wouldn't that defeat the point of using a sunbed in the first place? A high-factor cream may block UV rays for a time, but if you want to tan, it means that your skin must be exposed to UV rays...

Why not use fake tan if you're concerned about the health risks?

Only complete fools use sunbeds for non-medical reasons.

Putting aside the people who don't like sunbeds, to those who do use them what do you think of the tan accelerators they sell? Are they worth it?

My friend thinks they're a waste of time.

Your supposed to only have 30 sessions a year but look at you skin under a UV lamp and see all the damage that they do and you'll know that fake is best!

I have used some good tanning accelerators in the past, I used sunbeds quite a lot until recently for my skin, as I had bad acne. I had to have a mole removed on my back which had changed size so Id never use them again now.

10 minutes in the sun with no suntan lotion on is the same as 3 hours wearing factor twenty. Sun tan lotion will not stop you burning, it just prolongs the time you can spend in the sun before you burn.

So using a sunbed for half an hour once or twice a year is no different to spending a fortnight on the beach with suntan lotion, you get the same overall dose just spread over a different amount of time.

DON'T GO NEAR SUNBEDS! people who go on them make me sick as do those who smoke and take drugs!you are asking for trouble and with the already high chance of getting cancer these days, you may as well shoot yourself now.it's vanity to the extreme and if you could see the photographs and what my dad went through due to skin cancer-losing his entire nose along with the cartilage and bones was just the start of it. ( bearing in mind he had never touched a sunbed in his life and was quite sensible in the sun). you would feel the same, believe me!!!
sorry if this is harsh but, it's the real world and what happens!
