My UCAS track was recently updated with an unconditional offer from Hull for a BA in Philosophy. I only have 260 UCAS points, and they typically ask for 320.

I did say that I was confident I could achieve an A grade in Philosophy this year (which would give me 380 points), but they have already accepted me unconditionally with 60 points less than they ask for.

Can anyone tell me any reason why they didn't just give me a conditional offer? Is it an unpopular choice?

Might be because it is unpopular, but also because they want to maintain their graduate intake. They've already gotten their UCAS applicants and are now giving offers and they may find that not that many people have applied to their university/or a particular course, so they might be giving out unconditional offers to 'persuade' people to come.

Although, take nothing away from yourself. They might've liked you, your personal statement, references, etc.
