    4oz self raising flour
    1tsp baking powder
    4oz margarine
    4oz caster sugar

    This one is pretty simple:
    http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/3...chocolate-cake
Especially if you make it without the ganache on top. It's tried and tested!

That website also has other chocolatey type cakes.
Also try searching on www.tastespotting.com, some of the recipes on there are a little harder, but totally worth it!

For a simple buttercream icing, you just need however much butter/marg you want and double the amount of icing sugar, plus enough cocoa powder to make it chocolatey And I think you can buy little chocolate heart decorations and stuff for the top

For a really nice icing make a chocolate buttercream.

Cream some butter (use real butter for this as it will taste better) and add in some icing sugar until it tastes sweet enough. Melt a bar of milk chocolate and mix it in.

Here is the recipie I stole the idea from...

Dusky Butter Icing (From the Green and Blacks Chocolate Recipe book)

100g green and blacks milk chocolate
    175g unsalted butter
    175g icing sugar

Melt the chocolate over some simmering water and cool until tepid.
Beat butter until soft then add the sugar and chocolate.

Trust me it is gorgeous but still simple and won't got wrong, so much nicer than using coccoa powder!

A layer chocolate spread in the middle can also be surprisingly easy and delicious along with the butter icing.

Obscenely good chocolate icing: melt a big bar of dark chocolate in a bowl over simmering water, mix in a fair bit of cream, then pour it all over the cake. Sorry I don't have any quantities, but the proportions don't really matter. And if the cake's got layers put some jam in the middle as well.
