    Please help.

Im applying for dentistry this year, so need a hepatitis B injection. I tried to get one at my local gp but they said its all organised through the university so wont give it too me. I've tried other practices but they say i cant get it there cause i'm registered at another practice.
Is this true? How is everyone else getting there Hep B.

Any help would be much appreciated cause i really need to get the first one this month!

ask your local health authority what to do, they might be able to advise.

    What a cheap GP!

If you have a sexual health clinic near by, just pop in and say you're dating a bisexual man. They should give it to you anyway, but if even the bi boyfriend story falls, you're about to start escorting

It is the nurse at the practice who normally administers these injections. There are 3 doses and you need to give it about 6 months in total. You'll need to buy the vaccines yourself (around £60) from a Pharmacy.

I would recommend speaking to the nurse directly as they give vaccines to travellers regularly. Should be a routine practice for them.

Ask your local hospital - thats where I got mine done from but it was through work so they paid for mine - I dont know if you would have to pay yourself otherwise though

    I had a similar problem..

My GP was being cheap and insist that I paid for all 3 injections, even though all my other friends got theirs done free at their local GP.

So I went through Occupational Health Department (mine was King's College in Denmark Hill) and got it done free

I've been told that it will cost me £140! How are you getting it free? (I gave them the dental story too!)

Seems some GPs are saying different things. Might be because of the way care is handled in England :P Different things in different areas. Mine was free in Scotland ( where i stay ofc) , already had my 2nd of 3 injections. All I had to say was I needed it for medicine for university and they gave me an appointment etc.

edit: just realised OP is in Scotland. Very strange that they're not giving you it. The universities state that you have to take care of it and they're not responsible for you being immunised.

It's entirely the decision of the Practice Manager whether the surgery gives them out free or not. I was the last person to get free HepB immunisation for degree purposes at my surgery :P
