Stereotype alert: The further South you get, the more unwelcoming & cold people get (In my tres limited experience.)
Thats balls IMO. In Scotland, and maybe north of England, yes they are superficially, and sometimes falsely, more friendly, but they can also be the biggest ********s. They pretend to be nicer than they really are. In the south people are just a little more self-contained

OT: But why do people equate Liverpudlians with aggression. I spent loads of time in Liverpool and have never encountered any aggression. Only warmth and hospitality. The only aggressive Liverpudlian I know is my father. (And even he was only aggressive to members of his own family). Stereotype alert: The further South you get, the more unwelcoming & cold people get (In my tres limited experience.)

Or did you mean assertive?
This was written ages ago but I didn't see it!

The stereotype of a scouse accent is that the person is aggressive or is more capable of being aggressive than someone with a "posh" accent (my original accent) and hence people are slightly scared of it. The scouse accent also makes me more assertive because I know this stereotype. In reality scousers are lovely on the whole, but scouse teenagers who hang around the streets (scallies) are most definitely not lovely, and this is what I play on. Scousers are hugely friendly; a great example is when me and my (rather posh) boyfriend were waiting in the sunbeds yesterday and we just got chatting to two random girls for twenty minutes. Wouldn't happen further south, I guess people are more reserved. Perhaps in clubs at uni though.
