Alexander McQueen has just been confirmed as committing suicide. It's such a waste. He is the one designer in the world I absolutely adore and would have LOVED to work with, or at the very leasy own the clothes of.

Such a shame, I've always seen suicide as a cowardly way out. He'll be missed and definitely touched a lot of peoples lives however. Money can't buy you happiness it seems.

A couple of days after his mother's death and before the start of London Fashion Week. A huge loss for the British fashion industry.

Absolutely tragic. I'm so saddened by it. Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen are/were my 2 main passions in fashion. It's a sad sad day

It's so sad: I was looking at his section on the alumni wall at my uni just the other day, thinking how much I love his work. He'll be sorely missed.

BBC news says nothing about suicide.

But uh oh. Daily Mail reckons an openly gay celebrity in a civil partnership has killed himself?

Someone restrain Jan Moir before she gets her hands on this one.

Aww! That's so sad. I understand the grief of losing your mum though. It's unbelievably painful. I'm so lucky that I've had my siblings with me for this past year and a half, and even then I still ended up with depression. I wonder if he is an only child.

May he and his mother RIP.
