If a person had clinical depression, would having a boyfriend/girlfriend perhaps make them feel better about themselves, and less worthless? Or would it be a bad idea to get into a relationship with a mental health that is not totally healthy? What are your opinions?

It might make them happy...for a while.

What happens when the relationship ends?

What would make be better is if the depressed person learned to love themself first.

Probably, i'd love to have a relationship. But being all depressed i just seem boring and uninterested, yet i'd love to talk for hours ect but i just don't have the energy or happy thoughts xD

For a relationship to /really/ work, it's a good idea to be happy within yourself first, or the relationship could be a bit shakey.

I just remembered about the search function, sorri I didn't use that earlier. Thanks for your answers though

Definetly go for it it will make you happier, more confident and you'll have to make an effort with the human race which is hard when your depressed!

But when you can comfortably talk to her tell her about your condition, if anything it would probably make you two closer anyway.

    And good luck!

I think it depends where your depression comes from.

Myself personally, I would not get into a relationship when suffering a depressive episode. I am not a good person when I am depressed, and frankly even when I'm not depressed I'm a bit nutty. When I've been a lot better for a long time I will consider a relationship again.

Can't imagine anyone wanting to be my boyfriend anyway. I wasn't exactly turning them away when I wasn't depressed.
