I want to become a primary school teacher not sure what the difference is but when I was working as a classroom assistant I was adviced to do a degree in a subject then a PGCE by the headteacher. As she would rather have someone with a degree in a academic subject rather than one in education. So i trusted her and am now progressing to do a degreee in history and politics.

The only difference I think is the course length. BEd tends to last for four years where as a BA(hons) tends to last for three years. All a matter of choice really.

It's alright! I was thinking the same earlier in the year!!
Doesn't a B.Ed confer qualified teacher status whereas a BA Edn doesn't?

Both can be done with QTS

You can get BA, BSc or BEd and be recommended for QTS.......... but after all of these or after a PGCE year you have to complete an NQT year, working as a teacher, but you still have to complete like an induction programme, you are a qualified, fully paid teacher for this though
