    I'd go to work so I don't plead poverty like most students seem to, can't see the point with some gap years where it's all well and good travelling the world but being broke before you've started at uni then becoming more so as time goes on, unless you have rich parents of course

    def get a job if you arent that well off. you'll need the dough later.

    uni needs to be enjoyed, since it only comes once or twice in your life, and sadly that means it costs a lot more than you plan for.

    Maybe try the Nuffield Bursary if you're interested in research, I'm not sure whether they take gap year people though...

    Yes you can do medical research projects on the Bursary, just pick a project related to an area of medicine you're interested in.

    the nuffield bursary is only for uk students
    am an overseas student so not eligible.
