    A ball of mass 0.3kg is moving vertically downwards with speed 8ms. When it hits the floor which is smooth and horizontal. It rebounds vertically from the floor with speed 6ms. Find the magnitude of the impulse exerted by the floor on the ball.
    I got impulse as 0.6N.

    I have a feeling it is wrong, can anyone clarify please.

    impulse = mv-mu. so 0.3x6-0.3x-8=4.2

    if you take going up to be positive.

    Well your units for impulse are wrong for a start, and did you account for the change in direction i.e the velocity goes from positive to negative?
