Well, to cut a long story short, there's a guy i've really liked for a few years now, we've chatted loads on facebook/msn and used to see each other bit at our old school. I always thought he fancied me but never wanted to make the assumption as i saw no reason why he would think of me as more than a friend. We went out for coffee over the summer and at the time i thought of it as a date but looking back i can't help thinking maybe he didn't. Do guys ask girls out for coffee if it's not a date? Anyway, he told me for sure that he likes me a month ago and at the time i said it wasn't a good time because my parents are funny about the whole 'me dating' thing. I've now changed my mind and have decided that i don't care if they don't like it as i deserve to be happy. How do i start the conversation with him about this. I don't want to be the one to ask him out (mainly because i'm scared he'll have changed his mind) but how do i get my message across without sounding like a desperate moron? Any help will be much appreciated, just need good ways of telling him thanks

Invite him out for coffee, ideally to the same place as last time. Don't make it seem like you're going to that particular coffee shop, but that it's sort of handy for going off to do other things afterwards.

While you're there, ask him if he remembers being there last time, and ask him if he remembers saying he liked you. He should take it from there if he still likes you, I think you'll be making it quite clear with the setting and the direct questioning.

    EDVB, happy to help.

I'd just tell him that your perceptions have changed, you don't really give a damn what your parents think about it and that you'd quite like to stop faffing around and start seeing each other!

Say 'i can't bear to be without you anymore, you're all i can think about, please please give me a chance i want to be yours forever and always babe'

    or

'i don't really care what my parents think anymore, let's date?'
